When do you start buying your Christmas gifts?

Hello again fabulous friends, followers, readers…HAPPY FRIDAY! ;o)

I find as soon as the kids go back to school after the summer break I start thinking about what to buy the kids for Christmas.

I always think of a main present to buy the twins i.e. a scooter, bike  then a few extras and stocking fillers.  I usually start buying these in October.

Now, last year we bought the twins laptops as they do a lot of their homework on the computer, they could have used my husbands mac and my pc but they’ll always be arguments as to whose using what…twins :o)

So, as I said, I started buying other gifts in October and in November and even December, right up to a few days before Christmas.  After taking all the gifts out of storage and putting them together in one heap to even them out for each child, I realised there were far to many gifts for each child.  (Apparently I do this every year, says my husband) So now we have to decide which ones we’ll give them and which ones to keep for next year.

Is it a good idea to start early?

The point I’m getting at…is it a good idea to start your Christmas shopping early?  I think there are pros and cons;  1. It’s a great idea if you have the space to store them.  2. You have gifts for the next year and 3. you save money by not having to buy as much stuff the following year.

It’s not a great idea if; 1. You don’t have the space to store them and 2. you can end up spending a lot more money than expected.

For us, this year we cannot think of a main present to buy for the twins – any suggestions…?  But this Christmas we will be pulling out the gifts we have in store!
